Tại sao cần học so sánh?

Mỗi ngày chúng ta so sánh mọi thứ: cái này rẻ hơn, nhà hàng kia ngon nhất, bài kiểm tra này khó hơn... Tiếng Anh có cấu trúc rõ ràng cho việc so sánh — học một lần, dùng mãi mãi.

Hai loại so sánh

Cách tạo dạng so sánh

Tính từ ngắn (1 âm tiết)

Tính từ gốc	So sánh hơn	So sánh nhất
tall (cao)	taller	the tallest
short (ngắn/thấp)	shorter	the shortest
old (già/cũ)	older	the oldest
young (trẻ)	younger	the youngest
fast (nhanh)	faster	the fastest
cheap (rẻ)	cheaper	the cheapest
cold (lạnh)	colder	the coldest
long (dài)	longer	the longest

Quy tắc: thêm -er (so sánh hơn) và -est (so sánh nhất)

Tính từ kết thúc bằng -e

Tính từ gốc	So sánh hơn	So sánh nhất
nice (đẹp/dễ chịu)	nicer	the nicest
large (lớn)	larger	the largest
safe (an toàn)	safer	the safest
wise (khôn ngoan)	wiser	the wisest

Quy tắc: chỉ thêm -r và -st

Tính từ kết thúc bằng phụ âm + nguyên âm + phụ âm

Tính từ gốc	So sánh hơn	So sánh nhất
big (to/lớn)	bigger	the biggest
hot (nóng)	hotter	the hottest
thin (mỏng/gầy)	thinner	the thinnest
fat (béo)	fatter	the fattest

Quy tắc: nhân đôi phụ âm cuối, rồi thêm -er/-est

Tính từ kết thúc bằng -y

So sánh nhất

S + be + the + tính từ so sánh nhất + (in/of + nhóm)

She is the most beautiful girl in the class.	Cô ấy là cô gái đẹp nhất trong lớp.

in dùng với địa điểm/nhóm: the tallest in the family, the best in Vietnamof dùng với số lượng/thời gian: the best of all, the worst of the three

Đi mua điện thoại

Customer: Excuse me, can you help me? I'm looking for a new phone. (Xin lỗi, bạn có thể giúp tôi không? Tôi đang tìm điện thoại mới.)

Staff: Of course! What's your budget? (Tất nhiên! Ngân sách của bạn là bao nhiêu?)

Customer: Not too expensive. Which one is cheaper, this one or that one? (Không quá đắt. Cái nào rẻ hơn, cái này hay cái kia?)

Staff: This blue one is cheaper than the black one. (Cái màu xanh rẻ hơn cái màu đen.)

Customer: And which phone has the best camera in the shop? (Vậy điện thoại nào có camera tốt nhất trong cửa hàng?)

Staff: This one. It's the most popular phone we have. (Cái này. Đây là điện thoại bán chạy nhất chúng tôi có.)

Customer: Is it better than my old phone? (Nó có tốt hơn điện thoại cũ của tôi không?)

Staff: Much better! The battery is longer and the screen is bigger. (Tốt hơn nhiều! Pin dùng được lâu hơn và màn hình to hơn.)
